Just under two years ago I visited family in southern Luzon (the Philippines) and then the area in the Visayas recently bludgeoned by Haiyan. It is an area of immense beauty but significant poverty. Now it is destitute.
If you can, give to the international relief efforts underway. The NY Times published a list of charitable organizations that are working in this area. The list is at http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/11/how-to-help-philippines-typhoon-victims/?hp .
My wonderful company, as it has in the past, has decided to match, dollar for dollar, employee charitable contributions in aid of this effort. Wish there were more right-thinking companies like this.
This is a view (in better days) of the waters off White Beach near the island of Panay in the Western Visayas.
